Latest update

What a busy time it's been since the New Year. The year is already flying by and we're looking forward to celebrating Sophie's first birthday on the 2nd March! Where has that year gone?

Matthew is doing very well and coming along fantastically. His vocabulary is coming on well and he will soon be giving his Dad a run for his money, God help me!! He is doing really well with his swimming and almost doing it on his own. He loves the water and it's pretty nerve racking being with him in the water as you need to keep your eye on him the whole time. He enjoys meeting up with his friends, Indi, Josh, Harri, George, and Jett, who he sees a lot. They all generally play well together and it's great seeing them growing up. Matthew and Jett use the hole in the fence regularly which enables them to come between the two houses without having to use the front door!

Sophie is becoming such a little girl and chats and squeals constantly. She manages to crawl the length of the house at lightening speed and is cruising around the furniture and against anything she can stand up against. I don't think it'll be long before she's up and walking about. She and Matthew like spending time together in the sand pit and it seems that Sophie might have grown out of the need to eat as much of the sand as she possibly can! Her swimming is coming on really well too and she is an absolute water baby. She loves the pool and the beach even more so. It's her birthday in a couple of weeks and we're planning a little party at home for her.

Dave is doing fine. He is currently holding the position of General Manager at Clearmake and seems to be really enjoying it and has taken to the challenge well. He is taking to the Australian way of life and his BBQ skills are much improved although we do get the occasional burnt snag (sausage!). The children adore him and he now gets both Matthew and Sophie screaming towards the door when he gets home from work.

I'm still working one day a week and have now moved from admin to helping them out with their database design/maintenance. No escape! It is with a completely new product and I'm really enjoying learning something new and getting my teeth back into it!

Our weeks are pretty busy with meeting up with Abi, Sue, and Julia on a Monday, swimming lessons on a Tuesday, I work on Wednesday, we have music on Thursday morning and then meet up with the Kawana girls in the afternoon, and then playgroup on a Friday. The weeks just fly by... I love being at home with the children although some days are more challenging than others especially with Matthew discovering his ability to say no and his selective hearing. They are fantastic children and Matthew takes such care of Sophie and is now enjoying the fact that she can interact with him so much more. It's lovely to see.

Mum and Dad continue to be great support helping out with baby sitting duties at the drop of a hat. They help me out a lot during the week, they have the children on a Wednesday when I'm working and if I ever need to go out and get a few jobs done, I know I can leave them there. Matthew and Sophie spent the night there last weekend and both Mum, Dad, Matthew and Sophie had a great time.

We are trying to get out more at the weekends and discover the areas around us. We had a lovely drive today through the hinterland ranges and a little hair-raising (well, for me anyway)drive along an unsealed road to a picnic point. It really is such a beautiful country and we were only about 3/4 of an hour away from home. I'll make sure I take some piccies next time to post on the blog.

We're looking forward to our trip in May and catching up with family and friends. It'll be 19 months since we last saw everyone so plenty of gossip and wine to catch up on!

We have had news that Dave's Dad, Brian, and his girlfriend Audrey have recently got engaged. Many congratulations to both of them.
